6 Strong Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Miss Star Wars Identities: The Exhibition
What if you can discover the kind of Star Wars character you could become? Not in terms of who your favourite is in the American space-opera franchise, but depending on what forces shape you. Are you meant to become a Jedi, or will you sway to the Dark Side? The force is strong with this one because tons of exciting sci-fi stuff is in store for you at Star Wars Identities: The Exhibition, which started early this year and will go on until 27 June 2021.
Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a newbie to the Star Wars movie fandom, you will surely enjoy the memorabilia featured at this interactive exhibition. Here are the reasons why you should head to the ArtScience Museum and check out the exhibition now:
1. You can see the rare treasures from film and TV production company Lucasfilm archives up close
Nothing less than 200 original costumes, models, props, and art pieces are on display, including classic favourites Yoda, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and Boba Fett. There’s also BB-8, an AT-AT, and Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon. Some never-before-seen objects are on display for the first time, too.
Make sure that you don’t miss the exhibition’s five key displays: the artworks featuring R2D2 and C3P0 leaving the pod in the desert, the Millennium Falcon model, the Yoda puppet, the Han Solo carbonite, and the original Darth Vader costume worn by actor David Prowse.
2. You’ll dive in-depth with the identities of Star Wars characters
The items on display are integrated seamlessly into the exhibition’s structure, with each object providing a deeper understanding of the identity of each Star Wars character. Each item comes with behind-the-scenes information, which will surely delight those fascinated with its movie-making process.
3. You’ll finally understand the destinies of Luke and Anakin Skywalker
Luke and Anakin are one of cinema’s greatest father-and-son duos, and their poignant story will always be a source of fascination. At the exhibition, you’ll also be able to explore their origins from the desert planet Tatooine up to the choices they made as adults that will shape them into what they have become.
4. You can design your own Star Wars hero
Unleash your creativity and build a Star Wars character just the way you want it: Wookie Jedi Knight, a Twi’lek bounty hunter, or perhaps an Ewok with badass fighter pilot skills. With the help of a smart bracelet available at the exhibit, respond to identity questions at the interactive stations that would allow you to explore your own identity and learn about the forces that shape you. From there, your personal and unique character will be born.
5. You get to choose between becoming a Jedi or if being one with the Dark Side
With the help of the interactive checkpoints, you get to choose which species you want to be, which planet you want to be from, the natural abilities you wish to have, and who you want as your mentor. You’ll also be able to decide whether you end up on the Jedi’s side or the Dark Side, plus you get to take home your personalised digital avatar as a souvenir.
6. Singapore is its final stop
Star Wars Identities: The Exhibition has travelled around the globe for more than eight years, and the Little Red Dot is its 12th and last stop. Star Wars creator George Lucas said: “Through the exploration of the characters and worlds of Star Wars, this interactive exhibition connects us with themes that can resonate with our own sense of self, familial identity, and shared experience.
In Singapore, the exhibition will engage that connection… fantasy meets reality, with a dash of reflection and adventure.”
Each guest is limited to only two tickets per purchase. Visitors are advised to pre-purchase tickets before the visit to secure a time slot for entry. Strollers are not allowed into the exhibition area due to space constraints, but there are designated stroller parking areas within the museum.
