It’s important to remember during manic times that we still need to take time out to care for ourselves through all the crazy. Plus, we’ve all been home a bit more often than usual over the last year wouldn’t you agree?
If you haven’t had the time to take some much needed TLC, or are simply looking for an awesome self-care ritual to enjoy whilst you’re in your sacred space more often, here’s a guide to some simple and easy things to do that take less than 30 minutes – for if you are still running a busy household!
Essential oil bath salts foot soak
Did you know that our feet are linked to every single part of our body? So it makes sense that when the feet are relaxed, our body is too! Treat yourself to a luxe foot soak using a foot spa or even just a bucket of warm/hot water, and fill it with relaxing bath salts!
Naturally, salts are used to relax, soothe, balance and enrich your skin, added to that a bit of essential oil and you’ve got yourselves a nourishing winner! You can find many body and health shops that sell Essential Oil infused Bath Salts.
Remember, different essential oils have different uses too. You can even make your bath salts at home!

Ever tried a Crystal Face Massage?
These have become massively popular over the last few years as more and more women turn towards a more holistic beauty approach! Plus, they’re excellent for your face and skin so it’s a win-win all round.
Sold as either a roller, or Gua Sha stone, different crystals like Rose Quartz and Jade are being utilised for their natural healing properties, for example, Rose Quartz is known to help improve blood circulation and overall skin complexion. These massage tools are great for helping to relieve stress and tension, and helps to sculpt the skin leaving you feeling radiant.

Take the time out to do a Full Body Exfoliation
There’s a reason why full body scrubs are usually on Spa menus (and we’re not talking about a quick exfoliation wash you use during shower/bath time) and for them to fully do their job, you need to give the scrub some skin time, not quickly rinsing it off your body 10 seconds later.
Whilst you’ve got the time, treat yourself to a full body scrub. Lay down some towels over the couch, put on Netflix, scrub up your body and chill out for 30minutes whilst you let it work its magic.

Make your skincare routine a natural ritual
Tired of using harsh chemicals and synthetics as part of your daily beauty and skincare routine? It seems that as our world shifts as a whole towards a more healthier, organic state, it seems the beauty industry has taken cue.
Get rid of your beauty products filled with chemicals and swap them for a natural range instead from your cleanser to your sunblock. Try Rooki Beauty for products packed full of superfoods, from chia seeds to kale, carrots and matcha, or try vegan skincare brand, Sigi Skin which looks like it’s used by fairies themselves.

Make a special elixir packed full of goodness: Moon Milk
Do you struggle falling asleep at night? You may want to swap the hot chocolate or cup of coffee for another delicious hot beverage, and another that’s been taking the internet by storm (with many colourful renditions) and is proven to help you fall asleep more easily, so best drunk before bedtime.
It’s a hot milk drink packed full of goodness, including ayurvedic herbs and spices, including ashwagandha and nutmeg, but feel free to add your own superfood powders to it.
You can purchase pre-made packs, or ingredients separately and create your own!
Basic Moon Milk Recipe
1 tsp ashwagandha powder
1 tsp cardamom powder
½ tsp cinnamon powder
¼ tsp ground clove
¼ tsp nutmeg powder
500 ml of almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
1 tsp honey
Directions: Add the milk to a pot on the stove, followed by the ingredients and simmer on low heat till hot. Voila.

Light incense or an essential oil candle to clean the air and energy
Both incense and essential oils are handcrafted from natural ingredients which have specifically been chosen for their healing and beneficial properties, working with the human body, mind and spirit.
For example, Lavender is known for its calming soothing effects, whereas a Clary Sage for example has been known for clearing negative energy. These days incense, as well natural candles made from essential oils are becoming extremely popular, and you can find them at many holistic, health and beauty wellness stores.

Start a Dream Journal
It doesn’t even necessarily have to be a Dream Journal, but if you’re already hesitant about the whole journalling vibe, this could be a great way to start.
Firstly, get yourself a journal that speaks to you, remember, this is your special book for your eyes only. Next begin by writing down your dreams and aspirations, for now, the future, it’s entirely up to you! Find a quiet space, perhaps on your jungle balcony, or a scared spot indoors.

Treat your hair and scalp to the deluxe treatment
It’s not just our skin that needs focusing on, but our hair, roots and scalp also need some TLC, for example, a 5-10 minute deep scalp massage helps to promote the growth of thick hair follicles.
Instead of quickly washing and conditioning your hair, opt for a mask instead. Try Gallinee’s Hair & Scalp Mask, filled with fermented rice water and mafura oil which promotes shiny hair, moisturises and softens strands and also soothes sensitive and itching scalps.
FYI, check out other stores like Watsons for more Hair Masks like Bear Fruits for $11.90 only.

Try a Cold Facial
With lockdown restrictions on and off all the time, we’re never quite sure if our favourite spas will temporarily close too. But what to do without our monthly facials?
If you haven’t heard about the new liquid technology, you might want to pay attention to what’s been dubbed as Ice Globes for your face and skin. After purchasing you’ll lace them in the fridge and the special liquid inside cools down almost instantly. When using, you use the globe to massage your skin to reduce puffiness, redness and calm sensitive skin.
Try the original Ice Globes from France, or there are cheaper alternative brands in Singapore available from Lazada (SGD $16.70) or Shopee (SGD $19.99).

The next best thing to a pedicure: Spa kits for feet and nails
Are you obsessive about having your feet perfectly manicured all the time? Whilst you may not be able to get your regular pedi with the latest season’s trending colours, that doesn’t mean you can’t take care of your feet and at home so that you’ve always got soft heels and manicured toes.
Try out a pedicure spa kit which comes with tools like an electric device for removing dead skin and helping to repair cracked and damaged skin.

A long, luxurious face mask
No, we’re not talking about the kind where you simply take a pre-shaped mask out the pack and plonk it on your face for 20 minutes…here, we’re talking a full on face mask treatment…Which requires some patience and self-control to not keep touching your face!
Put on a 30 minute episode of your favourite show and let the mask do all the deep-nourishing and cleansing work. Try Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty (which can also be used on the body) or Kew Organics’s Ultra-Revive H20+ Masque for ‘burst of hydration’.
